“I didn’t have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead.” – Mark Twain
Lengthy messages can become convoluted and take readers on a long, winding path which hopefully culminates with the message the writer is trying to communicate. However, long messages take less time to write because less thoughtful deliberation goes into each word choice. Because I work in marketing, choosing the right words that precisely convey my message, and get readers directly to my main point, is a daily challenge.
My most recent project is revamping our Website to make its message more concise, more understandable, and more effective. How content is written, where it is placed, and how visuals are incorporated are all integral aspects of communicating via a Website.
Each deliberate choice of which word to use or which visual to show is made for the purpose of explaining to visitors the benefits of using RiteTrack and working with Handel. I think of the Website as a letter to our visitors; with a message that is short, sweet, and to the point.
