The Handel Story
Handel began in 1997 as a general IT consulting company. In 1998, founder Even Brande was asked to develop a software solution for a juvenile assessment center. What started as a single project quickly revealed a much larger need—there were few, if any, purpose-built software tools to support the unique needs of juvenile justice systems. Recognizing this need, Even expanded RiteTrack beyond the original project to meet the complex needs of justice and human service agencies.
The lighthouse in our logo isn’t just a symbol—it’s the heart of our story. The lighthouse was chosen for two reasons: first, because it represents an early example of “information technology” that helped people navigate safely; second, as a tribute to Even’s great-grandfather, who lost his life at sea due to the absence of a lighthouse to guide his ship to safe harbor. This powerful metaphor captures our mission to help professionals navigate the complexities of human service work. Just as lighthouses guide ships to safe harbors, RiteTrack enables caseworkers to create the best possible outcomes for their clients and helps the at-risk individuals they serve find their own safe harbors.
