JAMAPALOOZA VIII
at the 24th Annual TribalNet Conference & Tradeshow
Another TribalNet is in books and, as has become tradition, Handel hosted the ever-popular Jamapalooza. Our Jam Session has consistently grown in popularity since it was first introduced at the 2013 TribalNet in St. Paul, MN.
This year, the TribalNet Conference and Jamapalooza had record attendance both on and off the stage.
For those not familiar with TribalNet, it is one of the largest technology conferences for technology leaders from Native American Tribes. This year, the conference drew over 500 attendees to Reno, NV.
Having recognized many years ago that there a lot of musicians in the tech world, Handel’s Founder and Chairman, Even Brande, started Jamapalooza as a networking event so TribalNet attendees can let down their hair and have some fun playing music, listening to music, dancing to it, or just socializing.
We enjoy bringing people together, and this year there were more musicians than ever who played: several guitar players, three bass players, half a dozen drummers, a harmonica player, two keyboard players, and, of course, lots and lots of singers. Many more contributed by dancing and/or picking up random percussion instruments.
We strive to keep things fun for everyone, which usually means playing songs that most people in the audience knows, and songs that a random group of people who have never before played together can master without any advance practice.
With the possible exception of a questionable rendition of “Hotel California,” the musicians mostly adhered to the three-chord-songs only rule. Because everyone was having so much fun, the event was extended so the merriment could continue!
We were excited to celebrate our 25th anniversary by jamming with everyone and revive the jam session to close out the end of another successful TribalNet!
